Every gift puts another silk in the air
Madison Central Color Guard runs on the generosity of the people who once marched it.
Travel to Tri-State championships, replacement rifles and sabres, silks printed for a new show, uniforms fitted to a new line, and the entry fees that get the guard onto the floor in the first place — none of it arrives with the season. Alumni giving is what closes the gap between what the program is budgeted for and what the students actually need to compete. A gift of any size goes directly toward the equipment, travel, and competition costs carried by the current guard in Richmond, Kentucky.
What your gift covers
- Travel and lodging for championship weekends
- Rifles, sabres, poles, and floor tarps
- Silks and uniforms for each new show
- Competition and circuit entry fees

Three ways to give
Every gift buys silks, flags, rifles, travel and floor time for the students carrying the Madison Central line today. Choose whichever method is easiest for you.

Give online
The fastest route. Email us and we will send you the current online giving link used by the Madison Central band and guard program, along with a note on how to designate your gift for the color guard.

Direct transfer
Prefer to move funds straight from your bank or a donor-advised fund? Call or write and we will put you in touch with the booster treasurer, who can confirm the account details and the right memo line before you send anything.

Mail a check
Checks are still the most common way alumni give. Email for the current mailing address and payee line, and note the color guard on the memo so your gift reaches the guard rather than the general band fund.
Questions about matching gifts, giving in honor of a former performer, or donating equipment instead of funds? Write to garyduvall3@gmail.com or call 859-333-5265 and someone from the alumni group in Richmond, KY will walk you through it.
Where your gift actually goes
A color guard runs on entry fees, bus miles, and replaced equipment — and alumni giving is what keeps those line items from landing on a family.
Gifts from alumni and supporters go toward competition travel for the fall marching season and the winter guard, replacement flags, poles, rifles and sabres as hardware wears out, cleaning and repair of uniforms and floor tarps, and the smaller costs that rarely make a budget line — gloves, tape, warm meals on a long championship Saturday.
We keep the priorities simple: the guard should never lose a performance opportunity over cost, and no member should feel that their spot depends on what their family can cover.

Questions alumni ask
How much should I give?
Whatever fits your year. Small recurring gifts from a wide group of alumni have historically done more for the guard than a single large one.
Can I give in honor or memory of a former guard member?
Yes. Send us the name and the season they marched when you give, and we will note the dedication in our alumni records.
Can I direct my gift to something specific?
Tell us what you have in mind — travel, equipment, or uniform care — and we will apply it there. Undesignated gifts go wherever the season’s need is sharpest.
I would rather donate items than money. Is that useful?
Often, yes. Food, wishlist items, and other season-specific things are needed all the time. Reach out before shipping anything so we can confirm what the guard needs this season.
Can I help without giving money?
Absolutely. Alumni volunteer on show days, help load trucks, and chaperone travel. The calendar lists where hands are needed.
Who do I contact with a question about my gift?
Email Madison Central Color Guard Director at garyduvall3@gmail.com or call 859-333-5265 and we will get back to you.
